take guar gum dissolve it in H2O then dissolve borax in H2O. Mix the two together to make slime. Guar gum and borax are available in the grocery store.

I’m not sure it’s a magic trick, but mixing corn starch with water can be “magical” I guess. It’s a liquid, but when you hit it or poke it, it acts like a solid. I think it’s pretty entertaining.

You can only do this if you have access to a laboratory.. so probably only will work if you are in a high school with access to chemicals and someone qualified to do it. But it’s very simple otherwise!
There is a water-wine-milk-beer demo which is great. Basically, you start out with 4 glasses:
1. Your first glass is ‘water’ (this contains some water and bicarb)
2. Pour the ‘water’ into another glass containing just a couple of drops of phenolphathein indicator (swirl it around the glass so the drops can’t be seen), and it will turn pinky red like wine
3. Then pour the ‘wine’ into another glass with a small amount of Barium Chloride solution and it will turn white like milk
4. Finally, pour the ‘milk’ into the final glass containing some conc HCl and sodium dichromate. You need to add the HCl just before you do this last step.
Check out the link below for the amounts and concentrations. I did this at an open day and it was a big hit!
